Grab a beer or a glass of wine, and connect with new and old friends over some great music featuring Trio 180. Based in California, the ensemble makes their Vancouver debut in Music on Main’s newest venue: Studio 700 at the CBC Building in downtown Vancouver.
Featuring celebrated concert violinist Ann Miller, Grammy-nominated cellist Nina Flyer, and award-winning pianist Sonia Leong, the trio performs great music in a programme of classics and rare gems. They’ll open with a stunning early Beethoven piece for violin, cello and piano. They’ll blow you away with seldom-heard works by Czech composer Josef Suk and American Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, the first woman to be awarded the Pulitzer Price for Music. And they’ll perform one of the most exciting and beautiful works ever written for piano, violin, and cello: Dvořák’s masterful, emotionally complex “Dumky” trio.
