Experience a legend in action as composer/performer Terry Riley joins Music on Main with his son, guitarist Gyan Riley.
Widely considered one of the most influential composers of our time, Terry Riley layers his hypnotic, brightly-orchestrated explorations with Gyan’s technical virtuosity and arrestingly beautiful instrumentation. Combining minimalism with jazz, eastern influences, and rock, the Rileys’ intuitive improvisations result in a truly once-in-a-lifetime concert experience.
Terry Riley helped pioneer the minimalist movement with the creation of his beloved composition In C, and has since gone on to change the course of 20th and 21st-century music. Gyan Riley, the first full-scholarship graduate guitar student at the San Francisco Conservatory, has worked with everyone from Lou Reed to Iva Bittová and is renowned for his own compositions, improvisation, and contemporary classical repertoire.
