This season, Theatre Replacement and The Chop continue their series of candid discussions with artists from here and across Canada, and they’ve invited Music on Main and grunt gallery to get some cross-disciplinary discourse going. We’re all interested in how we can open up, better expose ourselves and push the conversations even further; how diverse perspectives can help us dig deeper and speak more specifically about what we do, and how it relates to the grander scheme of art making.
The first talk, SHOPTALK: OUTSIDERS is hosted by Theatre Replacement and The Chop, and will introduce the season’s discussions through the archetype of the outsider.
Please join Music on Main’s David Pay, grunt gallery’s Vanessa Kwan and Theatre Replacement’s Maiko Bae Yamamoto as they discuss their recent experiences as “bumbling outsiders” and how this is fueling and/or sapping their artistic impulses. Also, how does being an outsider live side by side with risk and failure? And what does that do?
