…one of our most thoughtful and intense musicians.
New York Times
Violinist Jennifer Koh is recognized globally for her commanding performances, dazzling precision, and impressive technicality. She has premiered over 60 works written especially for her, and has been heard with leading orchestras around the world. She appeared as Einstein in the revival of Philip Glass’s Einstein on the Beach.
Inspired by Paganini’s landmark set of 24 caprices, Jennifer’s project Shared Madness asks “What is the relationship between the violinist and the instrument?” The project explores virtuosity in the 21st century and is comprised of short works for solo violin from some of today’s most celebrated composers, including Philip Glass, Kaija Saariaho, and Julia Wolfe (co-founder of Bang on a Can). It premiered at the New York Philharmonic’s 2nd Biennial in June 2016.
