Nicole Li, erhu
Two exceptional musicians join forces to create a new genre.
Pianist Corey Hamm and erhu virtuoso Nicole Li created the PEP (Piano Erhu Project) to synthesize the best of Chinese and Western music.
Corey is hailed for brilliant, tour de force performances of music that leaves audiences breathless. Nicole is praised for an expressive versatility that ranges from classical to rock, folk song to new music. Together, they’ve worked with more than 30 composers to develop a cross-cultural repertoire entirely their own.
Stylistically diverse and filled with beauty, their Modulus Festival programme includes world premieres by composers Jocelyn Morlock, Edward Top, Dorothy Chang, and Keith Hamel. The concert also marks the release of the Piano Erhu Project’s first CD.
The 2014 Modulus Festival is generously sponsored by Bryan Price.
Modulus at the Roundhouse is made possible by The Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation.
Presented in partnership with The Roundhouse Community & Arts Centre.
