Souns, Vancouver-based music producer, performer, and DJ Michael Red’s “ambient/etc” project
Couloir, featuring cellist Ariel Barnes & harpist Heidi Krutzen, two of Canada’s most expressive musicians
Rachel Iwaasa, one of Vancouver’s most remarkable contemporary pianists
Souns remixes Arvo Pärt
Produced by Music on Main & Michael Red
Don’t miss what is sure to be a mesmerizing late night concert.
Hear Couloir plays Pärt’s inspiring Spiegel im Spiegel in a cello and harp version and pianist Rachel Iwaasa perform Für Alina, the beautiful, minimalist work that set the world on its ear with a new musical simplicity. Then experience a live remix/re-intpretation of the two pieces by Souns.
Souns, an “ambient/etc.” project from Michael Red, will remix the performance live using live “dub” techniques and self-modulated digital effects, while quietly weaving in layers his own found sound, field recordings, and soft statics.
You’ll discover why the legendary Estonian composer Arvo Pärt is often called “The Holy Minimalist”.
