Don’t miss Closing Night of the 10th Modulus Festival at the Roundhouse! (And remember, As dreams are made runs until November 10 at the ANNEX!)
This 65-minute concert is packed with energy and pathos, rounding out a festival that celebrates friendship, live music, and two musical legends: the recently deceased composers Louis Andriessen and Frederic Rzewski.
From solo pieces written for friends to the world premiere of Alfredo Santa Ana‘s new work for “The Tempest Project,” the Closing Night concert is a great way to connect again with music that touches our hearts and activates our minds.
The concert ends with Louis Andriessen’s legendary “Workers Union,” an explosion of energetic rhythm. Here’s your chance to explore the notion that things aren’t always what they seem in Andriessen’s music. David Pay comments on the music and ideas of the composer:
“Andriessen’s music shows that we can (and should!) critique the world around us while still remaining a part of it. And he demonstrates that collectivity requires leadership, but that leadership does not require hierarchy or valuing one person’s commitment and contribution more than another’s.”

– You are required to wear your mask when moving through indoor common spaces like the lobby, restrooms, and the performance hall. Masks are required in all public indoor settings for all people born in 2016 or earlier (5+).

Q: Where will I sit?
A: You will be seated with your ticket group by ushers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
– Please check in with the box office to show your vaccine passport, and then wait in the lobby to be seated together.
– Each group will be seated approximately 2 metres from other audience members.
– Once in your seat, please remain in your seat until invited by an usher to leave.
Q: How long is the concert?
A: The concert is approximately 60 minutes long without intermission.
Q: Can I hang out with friends in the lobby?
A: Unfortunately not at this concert! Let’s all say hello to each other and talk about the music outside.
Q: How many people will be at the concert?
A: Music on Main plans to sell less than 50% of the capacity of the venue. This will allow everyone to have plenty of physical space between audience members.
