“It all sounds impeccable without losing its sense of lightness and joy — no small feat.”

String quartets are a perennial favourite – but have you ever experienced one with a banjo thrown in? Meet Invoke, a quartet whose joyful and adventurous music defies any need for genre classification.
As winners of the 2018 John Lad Prize, Invoke’s lively, spirited performances draw from classical, bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle tunes, jazz, and minimalism. Their music highlights an innate passion for storytelling, weaving together a tapestry of styles and sounds from both commissioned and original works.
These top-flight, exciting musicians are not to be missed at their Music on Main debut.
This concert has been generously supported by Alan and Elizabeth Bell and an anonymous sponsor.
Music on Main’s 2019/20 A Month of Tuesdays has been generously sponsored by Christine Choi and Bryan Price.
