Hopeful Monster is Eve Egoyan and Mauricio Pauly’s new recording and performance project, where the augmentation and extension of the piano’s sonic and expressive range come alive in new ways: infinite sustain, vibrato, tremolo, expressively revealed harmonic overtones, crescendos on a single note, and pitch bending.

Spontaneous joy and refreshed ears are what comes to mind when you hear Mauricio’s acoustic and electronic tools respond to Eve’s pianism. These two performer/creators evoke sounds that reflect the immediacy of friends making music together.

Performed in the round, Eve and Mauricio’s concert allows you to share an intimacy between musicians and audience, listening together.
