Vancouver’s cutting edge chamber ensemble, Standing Wave is comprised of a sextet of virtuosic players bringing an audaciously intimate aesthetic to the most complex and groundbreaking music. This festival performance introduces Nicole Lizée—Music on Main’s Composer In Residence—with an arrangement from exceptional contemporary composers including Andy Akiho, Vincent Ho, Jocelyn Morlock, and Nico Muhly.
With a special presentation of La Callas Fantasie, featuring Nicole Lizée on turntables, soprano Carla Huhtanen assuming the role of opera diva legend Maria Callas, and Ben Reimer on percussion. A multimedia odyssey, that fuses video recordings of Maria Callas with live performance, and delves into the high cost of artistic fame.
