Heather Myers

Heather Myers

Heather Myers is a mother, partner, and experienced dance-theatre artist. Based in Vancouver, Canada, Heather acknowledges the unceded, traditional and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, on which she is privileged to live and work. After several years abroad, Heather moved to these lands in 2014 and has continued her activities as a professional performer, instructor/facilitator, maker, rehearsal director, collaborator, student, and audience member. She is currently on faculty at Arts Umbrella and Richmond Academy of Dance.

While her professional background lies in predominantly classical European-based lineages, Heather’s creative situation now culminates in a synthesis of contemporary ideas and the development of her inevitably present history. As a movement facilitator and interpreter, her work focuses on dance as an act of discovery, actualization, and transmission. As a creative artist and collaborator, Heather’s most present interests include the deepening and opening of creative process, context, and authentic experience.
