with The Kessler Academy’s String Orchestra

The Microcosmos Quartet will be joined by Associate Mentors, the Echéa Quartet, to lead the fifth annual performance of The Kessler Academy: an orchestral performance by rising young string professionals and advanced students. An exciting educational initiative, The Kessler Academy features a conductor-less orchestra mentorship program led by the quartet members, in cooperation with Music on Main.

This intergenerational project is dedicated to keeping classical music alive in the 21st century. For the first time in its history, The Kessler Academy’s rehearsals will be open to the public. After five days of intensive rehearsal, these exciting young performers will take the stage at the intimate Pyatt Hall to perform great works for string orchestra.

The open rehearsal will be held on August 22, 2019 at The Post at 750 (110 – 750 Hamilton Street), starting at 3PM.

The Kessler Academy is named after Mrs. Susan Kessler, who has also made a generous gift in support of this year’s program cycle.

The 2019 iteration of The Kessler Academy is generously supported through grants from The Edith Lando Charitable FoundationBeech FoundationThe Hamber FoundationThe McLean FoundationThe Diamond Foundation, and The Greygates Foundation as well as through a generous gift from Sheri Weichel and Bernard Leroux through the Kingsway Foundation.

Music on Main is also grateful to Eileen Mate, Dr. Richard and Mrs. Lynda Spratley, and Jennifer Sankey and Dan Lewin for their support of this project.
