Dan Tepfer, solo piano
Join us for "The Goldberg Experience", a unique collaboration with Early Music Vancouver, Music on Main, and the Coastal Jazz and Blues Society.
Old meets new for an exciting and thought-provoking exchange, building a bridge across centuries and between genres – with two contrasting and complementing approaches to this masterpiece, the pinnacle of Bach's keyboard compositions. The two events in the weekend of March 8 & 9 will take place at the intimate and acoustically ideal Telus Studio Theatre at the Chan Centre of the Performing Arts at UBC.
On Friday, March 8, 2013, Mahan Esfahani, a rising star in the international field of early music, presents his electrifying interpretation of Bach's complex and ambitious work.
Then on Saturday, March 9, Dan Tepfer, one of the most formidable jazz musicians on the international stage, performs Bach's original variations and adds, after each one, his own improvised variation, generating an inspired and stimulating dialogue with the old master.
