Alcan String Quartet
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Originality, contagious enthusiasm, unique sonority, and remarkable cohesion have all contributed to the international success of the Québec-based Alcan String Quartet. From Hong Kong to San Francisco, via Barcelona and Brussels, the quartet has earned a stellar reputation for excellence since its formation over sixteen years ago, winning awards and accolades wherever they perform. For Music on Main, their programme includes Beethoven (the String Quartet in F Major, Op.18, No.1), Italian composer Alessandro Annunziata (Meltemi written in 2001) and Canada's Ernest MacMillan (String Quartet in C Minor).
